  • Meet Proinsias Q. Nuthatch, the recording label’s mascot. Most of the day, he looks like this:

It’s a tough job, perching on that logo. So at quitting time Proinsias hops down, becomes just plain "Frank" and, like any hardworking Irishmen, heads to the pub to enjoy a pint — and a dose of "the craic."  This is an Irish expression for relaxing with friends and generally having a good time.

Here he is: feeling informal and wanting to know "What's da craic?"  (basically meaning, "sup?") with you.

Have excessively tacky attempts at "Celtic pride" ever gotten on your nerves? For example: the abominations in green plastic — leprechaun hats, Hawaiian leis, etc — that always come out around St. Patrick’s Day?

Lodge a subtle protest by reminding the world that real Irishmen don't drink green beer. In fact: just to emphasize that you’re no "plastic Mick", take it the extra mile by saying it in Irish.

(Real beer is, after all, black. Dense, impenetrable black, sufficient to make light bend as it passes your glass. It laughs at food-coloring and, at most, allows it to slightly tinge the foam on its head. So there.)
